A Boy Comes Back From School

Timmy huffed in frustration. “She asked me, ‘Where is Portugal?’ Can you believe it? Like, who doesn’t know where Portugal is?”

His mother stifled a chuckle, trying to maintain her composure. “Well, sweetie, perhaps she was just trying to gauge your knowledge of world geography. It’s not about whether you know where Portugal is but rather how you explain it.”

But Timmy wasn’t having any of it. He crossed his arms defiantly, his expression stubborn. “Well, the stupid teacher obviously doesn’t understand that I know where Portugal is! It’s… umm… it’s… somewhere in Europe, right?”

His mother couldn’t help but laugh at Timmy’s flustered response. “Close enough, dear,” she said, ruffling his hair affectionately. “But don’t worry, we’ll work on your geography together. And who knows, maybe next time you’ll be able to tell the teacher exactly where Portugal is with confidence!”

With a sigh, Timmy couldn’t help but crack a smile. Maybe getting a zero wasn’t the end of the world after all. And as he sat at the kitchen table, surrounded by his mother’s love and laughter, he realized that sometimes, even the silliest mistakes could lead to the biggest laughs.
